An attorney by trade in Wood River, Illinois, I started buying rental real estate in 2013. Since then, with my two sons, we acquired 40 rental units and 3 mobile home parks with 180 lots. We buy and hold on both sides of the river but most of our properties are in Illinois. We currently rehab 3-4 houses per year, wholesale another handful but primarily manage our portfolio of rentals. To get where we are, we had to use a number of creative financing techniques including owner financing, private money, hard money and partnering.
